Podwale Przedmiejskie street and its intersections with Łąkowa and Chmielna streets are one of the most frequently used communication routes between the Lower and Main Town in Gdańsk. Podwale Przedmiejskie is also the main road to Elbląg that enables faster access to the south of the country.

The growing traffic volume on this route became the reason for modernization and construction works carried out between 2019 and 2020. The road surface was replaced, the tracks and tram stops were rebuilt, an overground pedestrian crossing was created, and the sidewalks on both sides of the road were extended with a bicycle path. Modern lighting was also installed to increase the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.

ELDRO was one of the subcontractors of this project and was responsible, among others, for installation of traffic lights, street and roadside lighting and video surveillance points.
